As you look through the website you may have questions that come to mind, so we have put together list of real questions that we are often asked about our wedding photography.  If you have further questions you are very welcome to email through the contact page.

General Questions

What is included in your weddding collections?

Do you deliver every image you shoot?

We deliver every final image, but we do not deliver every image we shoot. There are specific times when it is necessary to take a series of multiple photos at a fast pace to ensure the sharpest focus of the image. We then take particular attention and care to find which of these images is the very best in terms of exposure, composition, and sharpness.


Do you do destination weddings?

Of course, in fact we love to travel! Our destination collection prices are based on our standard collections plus the cost of travel, expenses and accommodations as needed.


Have you shot at my venue before?

We have shot at many different venues surrounding Indianapolis and beyond. If for some reason we have not we will schedule a time to walkthrough the venue or in the case of longer distance (i.e. Chicago) we will show up at least an hour or earlier to walkthrough the venue before the event.


Which photographer will be shooting my wedding?

We hope this won't come as too much of a surprise, but the photographer to shoot your wedding will be none other than Jeremy Haynes. Additionally there will be a second photographer (included in all of our wedding collections). Having a second photographer provides both a second vantage point (essential during split moments such as: guys/girls getting ready, bride coming down the aisle, etc.) and more images. 


Do you shoot in JPEG or RAW?

It has been said that if you have one hundred marbles in a jar and pulled out ninety marbles the ten remaining in the jar is the equivalent to the picture potential when shooting in JPEG. Our team captures your photos in the RAW format to ensure the absolute best photo quality available.


Do you also do Headshots, Individual Portraits, Family Portraits, or Product Photography?

While our main focus is wedding photography we also do other types of photography as well; including: Headshots, Individual Portraits, Family Portraits, and other types of Photography.

How would you describe your personal photography style?

There are so many definitions for terms of photographic style that the easiest way I can think of to describe my style is by viewing the photos on this website. If the pictures on this website resonate with you and get you excited for your wedding, then it is YOUR style! :) We want you to ABSOLUTELY fall in love your photos.
What I really enjoy is capturing a real joy, people, and the moments as they unfold. Sure there are times for posed or orchestrated pictures, but what I personally resonate with more are the images that look and feel more natural. That is how I enjoy pictures of myself. :) So with us, there is no need to pose (unless you want to) - just be yourself and have fun!


My venue is really dark. How does your team handle these situations?

I have photographed in just about every lighting situation imaginable. Our professional gear has been carefully selected for the purpose of adapting to whatever lighting circumstance we may run into. Part of my job is to find out how to make lighting work on a regular basis. I am always looking for ways to creatively light rooms and situations

How many hours do you suggest we set aside for wedding day photos?

You will find plenty of helpful planning advice located on our Wedding Photography Timeline Page.


My wedding has different events scheduled throughout the day. How does that work with coverage time?

For a number of reasons we have a simple start and end time for our collections. While there may be down time at a smaller percentage of weddings, we utilize this time for setting up equipment or to take you and the love of your life out for photos, etc.


What happens if we go over the contracted amount of time?

If the wedding goes longer than planned we will ask at the end of the contracted time if you would like to extend your time. If you would like us to stay, we will charge a specified amount based on 15 minute increments.


Why does there a need to charge for extra coverage?

We have dedicated this entire day to creatively capturing your wedding day. The reason to charge for more time is that second photographers require more compensation for the extra work. Additionally the more photos that are taken during this time will need to be post produced, which adds more processing time in the end. We would be thrilled to capture all of the extra (and perhaps unplanned) memories of your wedding day. 


How many images do you typically deliver from our wedding?

The amount of photos varies each wedding and obviously is dependent on the amount of time and content of a wedding. We are not in the habit of "counting" or limit the amount of photos we take, but capture moments as it happens. Generally speaking most weddings can expect around 80-100 images an hour. 


When can we expect to see our photos from our wedding?

Digital image editing and the creation of Photo USB Drive with final images take approximately one month. During wedding season (summer months) and other busy times completion time may vary. I will often send couples several samples before the final photos are completed.



What is included in your engagement/portrait collections?

When is the best time for us to do our engagement session?

The shorter answer: As soon as possible. 
The longer answer: This will give plenty of time for couples to print images and send invitations in the mail. The months of April through December are generally the best months for photos and they can be done any time of day, although some couples prefer a start time of an hour or so before the sun sets.


Where is the best place to do engagement photos?

Anywhere you would like really. Most couples brainstorm and come up with a variety of locations. Many will choose locations that are significant to them (i.e. engagement location, first date, etc.), while others enjoy a location such as a park, a wispy field, a colorful garden, downtown/urban settings, inside a library or train station, and the list goes on with endless possibilities. The sky is the limit!


Can we schedule our engagement session for the weekend?

Possibly. Since most weddings take place on the weekend there is a chance that engagement photos may not be an option on a particular weekend. Week days and nights are generally best. Please ask us if you do need a weekend and we can make something work.



Generally speaking most couples can expect 60-80 images from their engagement session.


When can we expect to see our photos from our engagement photo session?

Typically photos will be completed in a few weeks (depending on the time of year). I will often quickly send couples several samples before then so that they have ample time for "save the dates" prints and for use in social media.



Do you touch up all the images on our Photo USB Drive?

All of the final images you receive will be run through our post-processing work flow. One of our main uses in Photoshop is simply adjusting the color (white balance and temperature), brightness, and contrast of the image to make it look exceptional if not more accurate to real life.


What is your philosophy of editing/touching up/post-processing/Photoshop?

Editing is often referred to as retouching, editing, enhancing, Photoshop, post-processing, transforming complete makeover, performing get the idea. A common editing trend today is to "overdo it"; so much so that the only thing special about the picture in the end is the polished effect, vignetting, etc. Photoshop is an incredible tool to help enhanced images and make some minor fixes to an image... it should never be what the image is all about. Heavy special effects are often employed to cover up sloppy photography work. If an original picture was taken sloppy and there is no solid basis for an image. We believe a photo is only as good as its image foundation.
I am a huge believer that what makes an incredible photo should be based on quality of the actual image (clarity, right exposure, proper use of time, etc.) and more importantly the content, rather than special toning effects (sorry instagram) and being able to creatively communicate that content that artistically captures the actions, thoughts, emotions, energy or weight of that moment of time so that you are drawn right into the frame. Here is a good tip for hiring a photographer: when looking at samples from a website portfolio, try to look past toning effects and evaluate if the base image (imagine without the editing) is of good quality.

Tell us about the "Secured online proofing"/galleries. 

I am a big believer in sharing with friends, family and others. I also believe that sharing easy should be made easy to do. For this reason we began using online galleries as a way to view, share, even print photos from weddings and other photo sessions.


Tell us about the "Photo print release" form. 

The photo print release form is a form that we send with all of our wedding and other photo sessions. This form enables our clients to print whenever and wherever they would like. Some printing companies and business require a proof of copyright release. This form provides this permission to print.


What size can we print our photos up to with our high resolution image DVD?

Typically your final images will be a 10x15 inches.


Do you offer prints?

Yes! We use White House Custom Color for all of our prints. These are available to purchase through the online galleries. While there are a plethora of printing options available, please remember that not all print locations are the same in terms of quality. Most commonly used retail stores (Walmart, CVS, Meijer, Sams, etc.) and online stores (Shutterfly, Snapfish, etc.) add additional contrast, saturation, and toning because they assume the customer has done nothing to the image), which greatly corrupts the mastered proof. Ordering from a professional developer ensures that your photos are delivered they way they were meant to be.


What rights do I have to the digital prints?

Limited copyright ownership of the resulting images will be transferred to the couple under the condition that the digital images are for personal use and for the purposes of the reproduction and giving photographs to friends and relatives. 


Do you provide the digital negatives after the shoot?

Yes. We provide all the final digital negatives as jpeg images on the Photo USB Drive and online gallery.


How many images do you deliver on the Photo USB Drive?

All of the final high resolution proofs delivered to the online gallery will also be delivered to you on your photo USB drive.


How can I prevent my images from being lost after I receive my Photo USB Drive?

When couples receive their images, they also receive complete instructions on how to use and maintain their Photo USB drive and instructions to create a secondary backup.

What type of camera/equipment do you use?

Having used both Nikon and Canon systems professionally, I have come to prefer Canon equipment. (My apologies to all the Nikon fans out there) Included are professional fast, low-light optimized lens, cameras, and flashes that are equipped to handle a wide variety of fast, creative, and rigorous demands of wedding photography. Do you backup our images? How can we ensure that our images won’t be lost?

We have never lost an image from a wedding or photo session and have taken all precautions both in practice and workflow to ensure that within our power it never will happen. After the photos have been taken they are immediately backed up on five separate hard drives and then backed up off site, online and on disk. Are we over the top? Perhaps, but we just want to show you how we really care about your photos! :) 


Do you have Liability Insurance?

Yes we have liability insurance as many venues make this a requirement now.

We live far away or out-of-town. What is the best way to meet you?

Skype is a wonderful way to "meet" and ask questions without the need to step outside your home. Additionally we welcome the idea of meeting with your family or parents in your place if needed.


We have very busy schedules and won’t be able to meet. What options do we have to instead?

I personally love every time I am able to meet face to face with a couples and I would love to talk with you about your vision for your wedding day as well as all of the details. I am a face to face person, but I understand that it is not always an option. In this case the question above applies. I also am open to discuss things through email or phone, whichever you are more comfortable with.


How do I arrange an appointment to meet you in person and talk about our wedding?

There is a form on our website that will give you a chance to tell me a little about your wedding. This can be found by clicking here. Once I hear from you I will try to find a time for us to get together.

How do I reserve you for my date?

If you are ready to secure your wedding date, send me an email. Once we have your booking form and your retainer fee your wedding date will be officially secured. 


What if we exceed our contracted time for our engagement shoot and/or wedding day coverage?

If the wedding or engagement photos go longer than planned we will ask at the end of the contracted time if you would like to extend your time. If you would like us to stay, we will charge a specified amount based on 15 minute increments.


Can I pay with a credit card? Is there an additional fee?

Yes, you can choose to pay with a credit card (PayPal, etc.). Because of usage fees associated with payment companies we require couples to pay the processing fee "an additional 2.9% of the total collection price". For this reason we encourage couples to pay with a check or cash to avoid this fee.


Will we receive our deposit back, if we cancel our wedding?

Unfortunately no. The deposits are used to secure your date. Once we have reserved your day, we no longer accept new couples for your wedding date.


If our wedding date needs to change can we use our deposit towards a future date?

If the day is available, absolutely, however if rates have changed from your old to your new date, the new rates will apply.


Do you have any travel fees with Engagement Sessions and/or Wedding Day?

All sessions and events include a 60 mile round-trip (30 miles each way) included. All miles of the complete trip beyond this allowance is charged at a rate of $1.00 a mile. This rate does not apply for destination locations, which is handled on a separate individual basis. 


Why do you charge travel fees?

The main reason is to cover the expenses of travel (fuel, oil changes, and wear on vehicles). We also charge so that we can compensate our second photographers and assistant for the additional time of traveling.
